How to make diamonds sparkle in an animations

Looking for tutorials or discussions on how to make diamonds sparkle within KS.
I know I can add this in post processing but this is time consuming.

Is KS thinking of adding filters in future versions to bypass post processing?

Thanks

Hi Roland, I’m planning on getting some more Jewelry focused content up on our YouTube in the near future. What kind of ā€œsparkleā€ are you going for? Something more like bloom and shine, or something more like lens flare?

Hi Roland,

I’m by no means good at video but your question also triggers me since sometimes you want a bit of a sparkle in renders. I just downloaded a ring scene from keyshot to give it a quick go. With some help from Google I saw that ā€˜Aperture Diffraction’ was a good way to start using DaVinci Resolve (also as free version available).

Not sure what you’re exactly looking for but I had a quick go and was quite surprise how well it worked. The big advantage I think if you do it in post is that if a client wants more/less/different sparkles you don’t have to start your render all over.

This is only 720x720 and 150 frames but the render time from DaVinci was only a few seconds. Maybe worth a look at, especially because you stay flexible doing it in post.

This is the approach I’d take as well. There are a few effects in Resolve that make this pretty easy and as Oscar said, non-destructive.

I was testing the new version of Filmora which gets more and more versatile. This is the same animation as starting poing but with some starbursts and a LUT (which makes it looks like gold this time).
